Scholarship Resources

 

Local young people ages 16-25 who have a strong desire to learn to fly airplanes are encouraged to apply through April 1st, 2025. Scholarships will be awarded mid April 2025.  Candidates should have a desire to integrate aviation into their career plans, and show aptitude and work ethic to complete private pilot training. The scholarship provides for partial cost of training including aircraft rental, flight instruction, books, and testing material.  Flight training will be administered at Hastings Air, based at the Hastings Municipal Airport. The scholarships are designed to support two flight students through their post solo flight training that is part of successful FAA pilot certification.

Requirements To Be Considered:

Age 16 – 25

Reasonably Close to Hastings Municipal Airport

Passion for Aviation

Desire to Integrate Aviation into their Career Plans

Show Aptitude and Work Ethic to Complete Private Pilot Training

Requirements During Training:

Attend one aviation event per month

                EAA, HAA, AAA, Airport Advisory Meeting, Breakfast, Other EAA Chapter Etc.

Report in person or email an update on their training to the chapter once per month         

 

Distribution:

There are two scholarships available. 1st place is $8000, 2nd place is $5000

“Buy In”  -  Student must complete their written test & pass medical exam

Student must fund their training until milestones are reached at which time the scholarship will reimburse actual costs

1st Milestone – Solo – Student will receive $4000 ($2500) upon successful completion of their solo flight

2nd Milestone – Oral & Practical Flight Test – Student will receive second $4000 ($2500) upon achievement of their Private Pilots License.
